If you read my Instagram Roundup post from a week or so ago, you might have seen the very last photo and how I pretty much marked that as my favorite one of the bunch.
Well, I was super excited about my entire look from that night, and the compliments from everyone else totally made me have a big head (I know, I’m terrible, but hey, everyone is entitled to a good day here and there, right?!)
Jai and I were having a date night, and I wanted to make a little more effort than I normally do. My hair was totally in the ‘I need to majorly wash it’ stage, and I knew it was the perfect time to try the @deepicam and @amirawaldesai crown braid updo. I had tried it once before on a random night at home knowing that we weren’t going anywhere (so I didn’t really work at it). For this date night though, I knew I was actually stepping out of the house, so it needed to look decent.
This side looked pretty good!
Wellll, this side needed a little help, but from the back, it all came together nicely! Promise! And I didn't even use hairspray/product on this try!
I basically followed their video (which is really great), and I do think it would be easier with some help (mainly for the back), but you can seriously do this on your own, too! And trust me, I get impatient really fast with this stuff - like literally pull out all the pins and throw my hands up and end up in a ponytail kinda thing - so, if I can do this, so can you!
It’s far from perfect (but I like what they said in their video - it’s supposed to be a little messy and it’s okay if hairs fall out here and there), and I’m going to try my best to keep improving it. I’ve gotta work on bobby pin placement and the stretching of the braids, but overall, it worked for me. My hair is at a great length right now (and super crazy), so this style suits me at this point. It’s all out of the way, gives you that chic and messy feel at the same time and goes with multiple looks.
We were going pretty 'cas' that night, so I finally pulled out my denim/chambray t-shirty dress (that I bought at GAP in Paris for an amazing price!, similar here), threw on my metallic (silver AND gold score!) sneaks (similar here), some really light lipstick (I’m obsessed), kajal (Indian eyeliner) and that was it!
As always, thanks for stopping by!
